The bonus round: what it costs, how it plays, and what four bought rounds returned

Everything below was read from Chicken Road 2 by InOut Games, played in demo mode on 22 September 2026 with a play balance of roughly one million. Demo rounds cost nothing and prove nothing about anybody's luck. What they do show reliably is the mechanics and the prices, because those are printed on the screen.

What the bonus is

Three collectables picked up during a normal round start the free-spins feature: lights in Chicken Road 2, golden eggs in the original Chicken Road, counted in the BONUS GAME badge above the road. The alternative is the Buy Bonus panel, which starts the feature immediately for a price.

Once it starts, the bonus is hands-off. The rules panel describes it exactly: on each free spin the chicken automatically stops one step before danger, reaching the maximum multiplier for that spin, and at the end of all free spins the total accumulated multiplier is cashed out automatically. The free-spin counter sits where the Play button was — FREE GAMES LEFT 9, then 7, then 4 — and the TOTAL WIN banner counts up across the whole feature rather than resetting each spin.

The price is the same on every card

Open Buy Bonus and you get four cards — Easy, Medium, Hard, Hardcore — each with its maximum multiplier, its volatility label and its free-spin count. The one thing that is not different between them is the price:

So the choice of difficulty inside the bonus panel is not a choice of price. It is a choice of shape: nine gentle spins on Easy with a ceiling of x200, or three violent ones on Hardcore with a ceiling of x1,000,000, for the same hundred stakes.

Four bought rounds, written down

We bought the bonus four times, once per difficulty and at four different stakes, and recorded the final win screen each time.

Read the last column, not the fifth one. A total win of 121.57 times the stake sounds enormous until you remember the bonus cost 100 times the stake to open: the Easy round came back a fifth ahead, the Medium round came back down a little, the Hard round gave back just over half, and the Hardcore round — three free spins, a ceiling of x1,000,000 on the card — closed with a “Big Win” screen worth 17.88x the stake, which is under a fifth of what it cost to open. Four rounds is a tiny sample and we are not presenting it as a return-to-player figure. It is there to make one thing concrete: the headline multiplier on a bonus screen is not profit, and the price is always one hundred stakes.

The Hardcore round is the useful one to sit with. It is the level whose card advertises the million, it pays the fewest spins, and on the one occasion we bought it the screen that came up was not Super Win but Big Win, at 17.88x. That is the ordinary outcome of a very-high-volatility feature: the ceiling is real and the distance to it is the whole story. Where that distance can be estimated, we have estimated it on the maximum win.

What the spins looked like from the inside

The four rounds also show how differently the same feature behaves by difficulty.

On Easy, at a stake of 200, the counter ticked down slowly and the banner climbed in stages: 538 after the first spins, 2,438, then 10,762, then 18,734 with two spins left, ending at 24,314 — a Super Win screen reading 121.57x. The ladder under the chicken stayed modest for most of it (1.01x, 1.02x, 1.05x early; 3.70x, 4.22x, 4.93x later) and the height came from adding nine spins together.

On Hard, at a stake of 10, the ladder was a different animal: the chicken sat on 17.65x with 38.51x, 59.90x, 97.34x and 166.87x waiting in the next four lanes. Five spins, one of them large, and the feature closed at 565, or 56.50x.

On Hardcore, at a stake of 20, three spins came and went and the feature closed at 357.60 — a Big Win screen at 17.88x, on the level whose card reads x1,000,000.

That is the trade in one picture. Easy accumulates; Hard swings; Hardcore mostly misses.

Before you press Buy

Three practical notes, none of them a system:

• The price scales with the bet box, so change the bet first. At a stake of 200 the buy button reads 20,000. That is the same click as at a stake of 5, and a hundred times more money.
• A bonus buy is one bet, not a session. Treat the price as the stake for that round, because that is exactly what it is.
• Check the casino's bonus terms before buying with bonus money. Many crypto casinos exclude feature buys from wagering, or cap the bet size while a deposit bonus is active. That rule lives in the operator's terms, not in the game, and it is one of the things we read for the list of casinos.
